The Youth Shelter Program’s Backyard Keeps Growing!
Last year Hope For Youth’s Director of Finance/CFO Dawn Tesoro had her Gratitude Training leadership team, ML36 travel up from West Palm Beach Florida the last weekend of July 2016 to makeover the Youth Shelter backyard. As part of an intensive 3-month leadership program, teams adopt a legacy project of their choice to be completed from beginning to end with donor dollars only. The team raised funds for the Youth Shelter by holding fundraisers in Florida and by selling legacy bricks. Over 100 people contributed to the project by volunteering their time and by making contributions. The project included the building of the pergola, power washing the existing concrete, improving the construction and visual appeal of the fire escape, removal of the old bricks and concrete, laying down of driveway rocks and mulch and redesign of the landscaping of the backyard, which included the herb garden, the shade garden and the meditation garden. They were also were able the install a sprinkler system in the front and backyards.
Dawn is still working hard to help make the Youth Shelter a beautiful place! She currently has someone donating perennials. She plans to plant them this summer to keep the garden growing. Her hope is that they can get donations in the future to get the fence and keep the garden growing year after year.
Thank you for all your hard work Dawn!
