“Hope For Youth is dedicated to facilitating positive change in the lives of children, adolescents and families. They educate, motivate and empower individuals to become self-sufficient and achieve their full potential. I wanted to be part of that. I spent a Saturday at the youth shelter getting it ready for move in. I learned often teens show up with nothing and need clothing. I toured the house and saw all the furniture Ikea donated and the work Rebuilding Together did in that house. I felt the love forming in the house and I felt proud of myself for giving up a few hours of my Saturday. I interacted with kids and heard stories of accomplishments after the hand of cards they have been dealt. I saw the support come full circle, the employees, foster parents and volunteers. I volunteered to take pictures at the Hope For Youth End of Summer Picnic. I am not a professional but I wanted to make sure children had memories of the happy days. It is our job to spread awareness through the community. My next step is to be come a part of their mentoring program. I encourage all to volunteer, run a drive, or just spread awareness to others.”
