Summer STEAM Academy Continues
Last week’s STEAM outings included a visit to Old Westbury Gardens. A greater appreciation was achieved, of this magnificent early 20th century estate, through its preservation and interpretation of the landscape, gardens, architecture, and collections. And the weather was beautiful too!
A visit was also made, in honor of our ecology-themed week, to the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery. The hatchery holds the largest live collection of NYS freshwater reptiles, fish and amphibians, and our youth learned a quite a bit about native species. Classroom instruction and field trips are a winning combination for our youth, to stimulate their curiosity and engage them.
