Hope For Youth

Prom Prep is Under Way… and More!

Hope For Youth’s pre-teen and teen girls are excited to attend some local upcoming prom boutiques. Each boutique provides underprivileged teens whose families are unable to afford the heavy price tag of a formal gown the opportunity to pick the perfect dress. This year HFY will participate in two prom boutiques: one sponsored by the Long Island Volunteer Center and hosted by Nassau Community College, and the other sponsored by W-Girls, Long Island Chapter and hosted by Kings Park High School.

Prom is a very special milestone is a young lady’s life and is often surrounded with great fanfare. HFY and our partners at the Long Island Volunteer Center and W-Girls aid in creating a shopping environment that is supportive, encouraging and uplifting. The boutiques have more than an amazing selection of dresses. It’s where the complete prom ensemble can be found with shoes, handbags, jewelry, accessories, custom tailoring – if needed – and so much more. This will definitely be a shopping trip to remember!

For many of our young ladies this is the first shopping trip with a loving female adult. Past experience has shown us that it is a very special experience for our girls. In recent years, many tears of joy and excitement have been shed. The young ladies are reassured that they are beautiful and indeed special as they shop for “the” dress with our dedicated staff and the prom boutique volunteers.

And while our teens girls are searching for prom gowns, our pre-teens are looking for fashionable dresses to wear to the agency’s Annual Awards Dinner held in May. This Dinner acknowledges all the accomplishments of HFY youth both small and large. At HFY, we believe small successes lead to great achievement and we must encourage our youth every step along the way. For the majority of our young ladies, the Annual Dinner is the first formal event they have attended and the first time they have been glammed up and made to feel like princesses’ they are. Happy Shopping for All!
