Hope For Youth takes NYC
When we are children we can easily take for granted places we go and things that we get to do. Kids that are in care don’t have a luxury of taking things for granted.
Yesterday, Hope For Youth was able to take all of our kids in group homes, several children & teens in foster care, 2 foster parents and 3 children who have been adopted out of the foster care system on a day trip to New York City.
The trip started with a ride to Manhattan in a coach bus. We hit no traffic and arrived in Times Square just in time for our lunch reservation! We had lunch at quite a famous diner called Ellen’s Stardust Diner! THE home of the world famous singing waitstaff and some of the best diner food in the country. Serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner since 1987! We were serenaded by some of the most amazing singers while eating lunch!
After lunch, we made our way down to Rockerfeller Center to see the infamous tree! Our kids were in awe of the wonder of the holiday season and the enormous Christmas tree that was standing in front of them!
Each youth was given money to shop for themselves! Some of them bought food from street vendors, some bought something to remind them of their trip and then others saved it for our last stop!
We ended the day at Radio City Music Hall to see the The Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular! For many youth this was their first trip to NYC and first time ever learning about the Rockerfellar Tree or the Rockettes! Take a look at our day & Thank you to our donors who are so generous and willing to give our youth experiences like this!
