Hope For Youth

2015 Annual Awards Dinner a Success!

On June 9 Hope For Youth hosted their Annual Awards Dinner at the Hilton Hotel. It was a huge success! As with each year, this special event called attention to the many accomplishments achieved by the youth and their families who are served by Hope For Youth.

This year HFY was honored to have Regina Calcaterra, author of Etched in Sand, as keynote speaker. Ms. Calcaterra shared her story of living as a foster care child in Suffolk County. Her story of resiliency hit home for everyone.

Awards and acknowledgements were presented to this year’s high school graduates, most improved in clinical work, and other areas of need.  A special thank you was presented to all of the therapeutic foster parents who impact the lives of so many youth.  Many staff awards were presented for service.

In addition to all the honors and encouraging speeches, Hope For Youth graciously accepted a generous donation made by the Book Fairies. Everyone in attendance left the Dinner with a book of their choosing –many of the youth left with an armful of books to keep them busy over the summer months.

As with every year’s Awards Dinner, the night marks the commitment that youth and families make to themselves, and the hard work our staff puts in to creating stability, encouraging personal growth, and motivating us all to continue to provide the services through our preventive, emergency, and residential programs that truly make a difference in the lives of Long Island’s families.
