Hope For Youth

2014 Heroes For Hope Gala a Success!

Hope For Youth was proud to recently host nearly 200 supporters at its 2014 Heroes For Hope Gala.  The agency celebrated 45 years of work within the community, as well as the everyday heroes who throughout the years have contributed significantly to the agency’s mission.

During the festivities at the elegant Chateau Briand in Carle Place gala-goers recognized their work by honoring award winners, sharing success stories, and posing together for keepsake photos, thanks in part to our lead sponsors Unity Bank and Ernst & Young.   Check out the photo gallery!

Hope For Youth was proud to name Mr. Thomas Maligno, Esq. of Touro Law School the Elizabeth Bass Golding Award Recipient of the Year.  This prestigious award recognizes the spirit of our founder and extraordinary leadership among the public advocacy sector.

Also honored was the Parkinson Family for their dedicated service as longtime foster parents.  They received the Hope For Youth Foster Family of the Year award for their tireless work and commitment to HFY’s Foster Care Program.

A major highlight of the evening was a the screening of a vintage video featuring HFY’s founder Hon. Elizabeth Bass Golding from the 1989 Fundraising Gala, twenty years after the founding of HFY.  View the video on our YouTube channel.

Among the other highlights were three musical performances by current HFY foster children and staff, a reading of a foster child’s original poem, a mini concert featuring kids from iSchool of Port Washington, and the presentation of awards including a Citation by 15th District Suffolk County Legislator DuWayne Gregory.

Mark Silverman, Esq., long time board member, along with Jessi Simeone, former Miss Long Island and President of the Miss Long Island Ultimate Crown organization, shared the spotlight as Masters of Ceremony for the event.

Raffles and a silent auction rounded out the evening’s events.   HFY is grateful for the generosity of both donors and raffle purchasers.   We were fortunate to have raffle tables with over 40 attractive basket prizes, and three auction prizes that included Giants Tickets, a foursome at The Hamlet, and a weekend getaway.  All items were generously donated by our community supporters.

Many thanks to all who attended and donated time and goods to benefit our event.  We are fortunate to have meet such passionate folks throughout our 45 years of service to Long Island!
