Hope For Youth

Give 45 to Celebrate 45

Dear Friend,

As we commemorate 45 years of service, Hope For Youth (HFY) wants to thank you for your role in our journey. From our start as a provider of a single boys group home, today we are one of the leading providers of child welfare and juvenile justice services on Long Island. Our comprehensive continuum of care supports children at every level of care — preventive, crisis intervention, residential and out-patient.

Where we’ve been … Born out of the passion and vision of the Honorable Elizabeth Bass-Golding, a family court judge, HFY was created in 1969 to meet a significant community-based service gap in the child welfare system. She personally championed legislation to improve the quality of care for abused and neglected youth — America’s most vulnerable population. Since then, HFY has continuously been at the forefront of trends and changes and as a result has added juvenile justice, mental health, substance abuse and educational services to our program array. Central to HFY’s success is the dedication of our staff, volunteers, board members and community partners. Over the years, HFY has consistently had strong outcomes and is known as the go-to-agency for challenging cases.

Where we’re headed … During our recent strategic planning process, HFY identified
emerging program needs including more intensive substance abuse treatment, services for
sexually exploited teen girls, services for undocumented youth and the need to expand the
availability of restorative practices in juvenile justice. As a result, we are exploring new
opportunities to extend our services in alignment with our mission to facilitate positive
change in the lives of children, youth and families. We provide stable, nurturing,
residential care, foster care, preventative and out-patient programs which educate, motivate and empower individuals to become self-sufficient and achieve their full potential
.

HFY serves as a pillar of hope and strength for vulnerable youth and families having served over 30,000 youth and families to date. Together we have made this possible; please continue the journey with us. Consider a gift of $45 or more to celebrate our accomplishments. We cannot do this without you.

Yours in service,
David Hegarty, Ph.D.
