HFY Foster Children Go On Shopping Spree

On December 7, some very happy HFY foster children participated in the 12th Annual Shopping Spree for EAC's at-risk kids. Thanks to a grant from the Marie Gubitosi Foundation the young shoppers spent hours combing the toy isles of the East Meadow Walmart.
With gift cards valued at $100 each, each child was given a tough task... buy something you WANT, not something you need.
The Easy-Bake Oven, Justin Bieber Holiday CD, and various remote control trucks is just a sampling of what our children chose to bring home.
It is best summed up in a posting on EAC's Facebook page: "Just overheard: one of the children wasn't sure what to pick out at the shopping spree. Our volunteer tells him "pick out whatever you want" then the boy says 'I'm not used to this.' "
